Frequently asked questions

What is Meta Conversions API (CAPI)?

Conversions API is Meta's server-to-server interface that sends conversion data directly from your server to Meta, bypassing the browser. This lets you measure users whose Pixel doesn't work — iOS 14.5+ restrictions, ad blockers, cookie refusal.

Why is deduplication needed between Pixel and CAPI?

When the same event reaches Meta both via Pixel from the browser and via CAPI from the server, Meta must understand it's one event — otherwise it counts twice. The solution is event_id, a shared identifier in both sources. We set this up automatically.

Does Meta Pixel work with iOS 14.5+ and ad blockers?

Pixel alone loses about 20–40% of data due to iOS and blockers. Together with CAPI we recover that data server-side — Pixel + CAPI provides nearly full coverage, including under iOS App Tracking Transparency.

How accurate is Meta CAPI?

CAPI depends on quality (Meta gives an Event Match Quality score up to 10/10). With good setup that sends email, phone and IP address, accuracy reaches 8–10/10 — substantially improving Meta Ads campaign optimization.

How does Meta Ads use CAPI data for optimization?

Meta's optimization system (Advantage+, automatic placement) relies on conversion signals. The more and more accurate the events Meta receives, the better it finds new customers. CAPI gives Meta 30–40% more signal compared to Pixel alone.

What is needed to set up Meta Pixel and CAPI?

We need access to Meta Ads Manager, Meta Business Manager, GTM or Server-Side GTM (best option) and a contact with the site developer if code needs to be added. We help with Business Verification if not yet completed.
