Frequently asked questions

What is GA4 (Google Analytics 4)?

GA4 is the new generation of Google Analytics that replaced Universal Analytics in 2023. GA4 is built on the event model — every interaction (page view, click, purchase) is an event, giving more flexible and precise measurement.

How does GA4 differ from old Universal Analytics?

GA4 works on events rather than sessions, supports websites and apps together, uses machine learning for predictions and meets new privacy requirements. Universal Analytics data is no longer stored since 2024.

Do I need Google Tag Manager for GA4?

Technically no — GA4 can be installed directly via gtag.js code. In practice GTM is strongly recommended because it allows managing events and tags without developer intervention. We set up both together.

How long does GA4 setup take?

Basic setup is ready in 1–3 business days. With more complex events, e-commerce dataLayer or Consent Mode v2 — 3–5 business days. Exact time we confirm after reviewing your needs.

What is needed for the setup (which access)?

We need access to your website (admin or developer), existing GA4 account (or we create a new one), Google Tag Manager account and Google Ads account if conversion linking is needed. We help arrange access if missing.

Does GA4 work with Consent Mode v2 and comply with GDPR?

Yes. We set up Consent Mode v2 alongside your cookie banner (CookieYes, Cookiebot, Iubenda etc.) — data is collected only with user consent. Without consent we switch automatically to anonymous mode.
